I like that S&W Mikarta, what are your impressions of it? I would love a nice fixed blade for the backcountry... and the price is certainly right. Also, as I am headed to CA, this might be a good thing since they are rather tough on firearms in the state. I'll have to think this one over...

It's not a bad blade, but it is a Chinese mass-produced item made by Taylor, who are not exactly know for producing top notch items. It's comfortable with decent steel and a good design, so as long as you don't expect it to handle serious abuse, it should be fine.

The gerber shortcut and clutch are awsome, i have them, and they are a nice little tool to have in the glove box or in your backpack. Do you have any recommendations on something that is nearly indestructible?

For what? A multi-tool? I have had my Leatherman Wave for probably 8 years with zero problems. The update of it, the Charge, is my favorite multi-tool, hands down.

I just joined "Going Prepared" tonight. I would love to have all 5 of the Fishing tools (#7 - 11), but do not know how to go about this. I just need your e-mail address for Paypal, right?
Thanks!

Hah, well, this was from three years ago, but I might still have a couple of them floating around. I'll see what I can scrounge up.
